Here is a sample of what the Conference Day Agenda may look like:
Registration and Light Breakfast | 08:15 – 09:00
Introduction | 09:00 – 09:30
This is the introductory session of the simulation. An overview of the simulation and day’s proceedings will be presented, and general housekeeping matters addressed. Stakeholders will be presented with a scenario and the instructions for their breakout sessions.
Stakeholder Breakout Sessions | 09:30 – 10:45
The first set of breakout sessions will be devoted to internal dialogue among members of each homogenous stakeholder group. The goal of this session is to establish key priorities for the afternoon’s negotiations. Working with a Subject-Matter Expert, each Stakeholder Group should establish a list of priorities that will be presented at the morning plenary session, by one or more spokespeople, determined by the stakeholder group. Each group should prepare a 10-minute presentation for the morning plenary that outlines their priorities.
Plenary Sessions | 11:00 – 12:00
The morning plenary session will be an opportunity for each stakeholder group to present and defend their key priorities. Each group will have 10 minutes to present its position, and to highlight key issue areas that they believe require further collective discussion. Based on the quality of the arguments, the Young Leaders Forum staff will select which issue areas will be addressed in more detail after the Networking Luncheon.
Networking Luncheon | 12:00 – 13:15
This is a great opportunity to introduce yourself to your fellows as well as to our high-level invitees. Please make sure to exchange business cards and enjoy the meal.
‘Tiger Team’ Breakout Sessions | 13:15 – 15:00
‘Tiger Team’ breakout sessions in the afternoon will provide an opportunity to examine key issues that arose during the morning plenary session in more detail. Delegates will be assigned to multi-stake- holder Tiger Teams by the Young Leaders Forum staff upon return from the Networking Luncheon. The goal of the Tiger Team breakout sessions will be to start a draft of the Negotiated Statement of Principles.
Final Plenary Session | 15:15 – 16:15
The goal of the Final Plenary is to formalize a Negotiated Statement of Principles. Taking into account the work of the Tiger Team Breakout Sessions, the plenary will discuss, negotiate and articulate principles to guide progress in the development and management of Canada’s natural resource industries.
Closing Remarks | 17:00
